WorldTeach and Colombia

We have been accepted as volunteers for WorldTeach, a non-profit organization that places volunteers as teachers in schools in developing countries.  On January 4th, we will be traveling to Colombia to teach in schools that do not have enough teachers.

As you may know, Colombia is still struggling to turn itself around amidst their violent history.  Violence has decreased significantly and the guerrillas have lost control of much of the territories that they once dominated.  Although Colombia has made significant progress over the last decade they are still fighting for the change that their nation desires.  As they are on the cusps of recovery and change we are so excited to join them in their struggle to find peace.  The children are our future and with a stable education we can help them to succeed in this struggle.

We will be placed in a low-income schools where the students would otherwise not be able to learn English from an English speaker.  It is very important for students to learn English, because it is a valuable skill and allows them more options for their future.
